Who is the Antichrist?

Image
Introduction Who is The Antichrist?   That question seems to be on the minds of many Christians in every age going back to the beginning of the church. Scriptures 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 (ESV) The Man of Lawlessness  Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of l

666 Number of the Beast

Image
Here is wisdom:, The one who has understanding must calculate the number of the beast, because it is the number of a man. His number is 666. Revelation 13:18 Emperor Nero Nero Caesar (Roman Emperor from 54-68) was an infamous persecutor of Christians in the period from the Great Fire of Rome in July 64 until his death by suicide in June 68.  His name can be valued at 666, using the Hebrew numerology of gematria, a manner of speaking against the emperor without the Roman authorities knowing.  Nron Qsr The Greek version of the name and title transliterates into Hebrew as  נרון קסר ‎, and yields a numerical value of 666: Resh  ( ר ) Samekh  ( ס ) Qoph  ( ק ) Nun  ( נ ) Vav  ( ו ) Resh  ( ר ) Nun  ( נ ) Sum 200 60 100 50 6 200 50 666 Some very early manuscripts use 616, which is often written off as a scribal error. However, the number 616 is the number of Nero in Latin. In Hebrew, the name is Nron Qsr (Pronounced "Nerōn Kaisar"). In Latin it is Nro Qsr (Pronounced "Nero Kai

Daniel's 70th Week

Image
Introduction One of the more hotly contested Old Testament prophecies is the "70 Weeks" prophecy revealed to Daniel, as recorded in Daniel 9.  The dispensational framework of interpretation , as formulated by John Nelson Darby in the 1830s and popularized in the Scofield Reference Bible (1909, 1917), finds correlation between Daniel 9, the Olivet Discourse, and Revelation as all pointing to a future seven year period beginning with the rapture of the church and ending with the physical return of Christ.  This is inconsistent with the historic understanding held by the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and many Protestant churches. This article intends to examine the evidence and determine which understanding holds up best in light of the scriptural and historical evidence.
